Portfolios distributed among advisors of Bangladesh’s interim government

DHAKA, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) — Portfolios have been distributed among advisors of the interim Bangladeshi government, who were sworn in on Thursday night.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Friday, Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the 17-member interim government, distributed the portfolios among 13 advisors.
Out of 17 members, Yunus and 13 others took oath Thursday night, and the remaining three members will take oath later.
The notification said the chief advisor will oversee a broad array of ministries.
He has taken responsibilities of 27 ministries and divisions, including Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.
Salehuddin Ahmed has been made advisor for the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning, and Asif Nazrul for the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Nahid Islam, one of key organizers of the student movement that led to the departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has got the charge of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, while another movement leader, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, has been given the charge of Ministry of Youth and Sports.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament on Tuesday, paving the way for the formation of an interim government following the fall of the government led by Hasina. ■
